Italic font, functional collectible
This old typewriter, inspected by an expert, is from 1920. It was made by ADLER-WERKEN, formerly Heinreich Kleyer AG in Frankfurt/Main, Germany.
The ADLER company has produced typewriters with the “bumper technology” since 1898, whereby the print bars slide over a hardened steel plate and bring the letters to imprint on the roller. The ADLER 7 was one of the best-selling machines in the first decades of the 20th century, up through the 1940s.
This one, serial number 119503, has keys with the seldom-used ITALIC font as a special feature.
It types perfectly with the new ribbon, as can be seen in the sample. It is still usable today.
The photos describe the visual condition in more detail. Chrome and enamelled parts shine with their original glory, although there are are a few signs of wear that can be seen after almost 100 years.
All parts and labels are preserved in their original form. In a few places, the paint has been renewed.
The features of this machine are:
- 3 row QWERTZ keyboard with double shifting
- French and other special characters
- New ribbon
- Completely original
- A few minor signs of wear
- Paint touch-ups
