This group of young people of 11 years wanted to show the world, that they are open to peace. A tapestry to counter war, who wouldn't want that.

Worldwide millions of children continue to be victims of war; exposed to acts of unspeakable violence, which can severely impact their physical and emotional development.

War Child’s mission is to create a peaceful future for such children by focusing on their psychosocial development and helping them come to terms with their past. Creativity, sports and education form the core of War Child’s activities. Through dance, music, theatre and sports children learn to express their emotions and heal their war experiences; building bridges between people who once were enemies. Together we work for Peace, in every human, starting with each individual child.

(Zonneglossis, a not-for-profit organization, assembled an enthusiastic team of volunteers to produce beautiful Peace Tapestry, by calling upon the help of children, schools, adults and Dutch artists to contribute their peace message as a tile for the finished design. Many multicultural Peace festivals have since been organized around the Peace Carpet to bond people.)
