Mechanical - 8-day movement - strikes every half hour
Large table clock inside of a niche in the style of a temple or sanctuary or antique reliquary made of polychrome wood. An extraordinary work of art.
Very beautiful, in excellent condition. Possibly much older than the clock.
It is a sculpture carved with great beauty and craftsmanship executed with Baroque or Neoclassical style techniques. Polychrome on white base with reds, greens and golds on it. All made of wood. Some minor chips in the paint due to age and dirt. Healthy, robust wood. Covered with paint, symbols and decorations.
The top of the temple functions as a cover and contains a compartment to keep things in. It has a back door and crystal in front that allow access to the clock. The lower base has a text in Latin painted on it as well as the top front cornice of the temple.
'Tempus Fugit' - Time flies
'OMNES FERIVNT VLTIMA NECAT' - All (the hours) wound, the last one kills. Used on clocks in church towers.
Bronze dial with engraved numerals and minutes in low relief with a large cross in the centre.
Mechanism with flywheel and spiral (with no pendulum), Japy Freres type, in working order.
Works perfectly, with clearance key.
