New York: Museum of Modern Art, 1968. Vintage poster for a Christo exhibition at the MoMa. Shows a very early project that never materialised, in which the Museum of Modern Art in New York was to have been wrapped up.
Signed lower right on the poster by Christo with a pink pen, "Christo 1968".
In 1968, Christo and Jeanne-Claude suggested wrapping up the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the adjacent sculpture garden. It would have been the first public building to have been wrapped by the two artists. The project never went ahead as MoMa was unable to resolve the issue of insurance for when it was wrapped up. Instead, the MoMa offered to do an exhibition with models, photo montages and drawings of the planned project.
The poster is mounted on cardboard and can therefore not be rolled up. There are slight creases all over the poster, this could be from where it was glued (see photos). There is also a little discoloration on the sides. Each of the two upper corners are slightly creased.
