Good condition, see description.
Similar Blue and White Transitional porcelain Linglong bowl appears as early as the ones found in the Hatcher Cargo c.1643, Chongzhen 1628-1644 or Shunzhi 1644-1661. They have the same unglazed base.
The deep sides are cut through in openwork and are called `reticulated` porcelain, reticulated meaning having the form or appearance of a net. Another name for this type of pierced or cut decoration is `Devils Work` or Guigong. However the Chinese term Linglong is more now.
This bowl has been over painted in Europe, probably during the late 18th early 19th c to add value to the piece and as a result of a fashion for enameled pieces. This type of piece is called clobbered or Amsterdam bond. The faded mark on the base is from this later period.
