Few tables of this quality are currently available, also in the excellent current condition as you can see in the photos.
Additional information: Gillows of Lancaster was probably the most celebrated of all English furniture framers. They settled at the beginning of the 18th century, and the pieces made by Gillows are very desirable and very coveted. This particular table prevents the cabinet of the quality that makes all over. With details as the central column and around the base, along with the feet of acanthus and eagle claw legs, this fine quality would be indicative of Gillows manufacturing or a manufacturer from London.
Gillow pieces of furniture can now be seen in museums all over the world. A collection of Gillows furniture is on display at the mansion Tatton Park in Cheshire England, run by the National Trust.
The table has always belonged to the family of the Canarian writer Benito Pérez-Galdós, (May 10, 1843 – January 4, 1920), for which it is delivered with a certificate signed by a member of his family. The table can be seen in family photographs at the Museum of the writer.
