Menus of the Liberté liner from the Compagnie Generale Transatlantique from 1954
7 Menus of the Liberté liner from 1954.
The liberty liner belonged to the French company Compagnie Generale Transatlantique.
Each of these 7 menus are named after a French rhyme.
Illustrations by Jean Mercier: The music arrangements Charles Dumont are taken from the book “Nos Vieilles Chansons”, published by the “S.A.M les beaux livres” published by “éditions les Flots Bleus Monte Carlo).
There is an illustration on the cover page of each menu, and on the last page the rhyme of the menu name. These menus are in a very good condition despite the their age, 63 years old today.
Each menu is in cardboard and was renewed for each meal. “ce soir à minuit les montres seront avancées de 60 minutes" was written on the diner’s menus. I suppose the boat had to change time zone along its route during the night. Inside, the text is in French on the left page and in English on the right page.
