Ca. 1920, Signed: 'Germany' and most likely 'Pfhorzheim'
This incredible 'Art Deco' Necklace, is still from my wife's Private Collection.
However, she's always been very reluctant about selling it. Now that she's
finally decided to sell it, I will try and describe it as accurately as possible.
Actually, it speaks for itself when you look at the photographs. It has a very
strong WW influence, as well as a bit of an Egyptian flair to it. The actual
design is pretty large at 6 cm long and 3,5 cm wide. The triangular part on
top is Gold Plated on copper, with a Silver coloured Pyramid shaped raised
center. Both right and left panels are Gold Plated copper, each set with some
incredible large light blue rectangular shaped crystals. Each crystal is stunningly
engraved with stylized tulips and leafage ! The center completes this jewel
with five Gold Plated chain like dangles. The chain itself, is made of the same
material and very well constructed. Its overall open length is a fabulous 50 cm
and the center part when worn, descends to 7 cm. As I mentioned in the title,
this could very well be, the most exiting non -precious metal Art Deco necklace
ever offered at auction ! Furthermore, it happens to be in absolute 'Mint' Vintage
Condition, with no repairs, no missing parts and no cracks or chips. Naturally,
it will show some signs of usage, since it's about 100 years old. Nothing major !
For accuracy, I will mention that there's a very minor and slight dent on the left
side of the triangle. You might not even see it, since it's hardly noticeable.
It is marked 'Germany' and from the research I've done so far, I'm as good as
certain that it was made in the German Jewelry Center of the world, of Pfhorzheim.
I cannot make an attribution to any designer, since if it were to be designed by
Theodor Fahrner, it would have his stamp on it.
Keep in mind, that this necklace would make a spectacular 'Christmas' Gift !
