Antique and rare 16th century Senese frame, Tuscan Renaissance
Beautiful Senese frame form the 16th century made of walnut wood. Its central part shows later reworkings to the moulded parts which seem to be in poplar wood. Gilding still exist but needs recovering through a restoration.
An object almost unobtainable in such condition, after 500 years.
Dimensions: 65 x 55 cm, with crown 12 cm thick.
Please note that the last picture shows that one of the corners has a far more visible gilding, because a few days ago a restorer made a cleaning test onto the dark coating paint surface, which was found to be shellac. Once gilding is completely removed, the original friezes might reemerge.
