The company was founded in 1857 in Forst by Johann Wallnöfer and Franz Tappeiner.
Forst is a town that today, as Forst-Foresta is a village of Lagundo (Algund), but at the time was the hamlet of Marling, Marling is situated at the end of the Bolzano-Merano motorway.
Josef Fuchs, the founder of the family that took over in 1863 the company and still owns the shares, built the first Forst brewery which is still in use today, using the large amounts of water from Mount St. Joseph - Josefsberg.
In 1948 Forst s.p.a. signed a contract with the Sicilian brothers Andrea and Francesco Vesco who ensured to the Palermo Sicilian Foodstuffs Bottling Centre (CISPA) exclusivity in bottling and supplying Forst in the whole of Sicily.
A great new cooking department, based on a project by Stahlbau Pichler of Bolzano opened in 2011.
Over the years, Forst grew until it became one of the leading breweries in Italy. Today the company is owned by the Fuchs-von Mannstein family, without being absorbed by one of the large foreign companies that dominate the sector.

In 1948 the Forst s.p.a. signed a contract with the Sicilian brothers Andrea and Francesco Vesco, who assured the construction of the Sicilian Food Products Center (CISPA) in Palermo, the exclusive for bottling and supply of Forst beer throughout Sicily.
A new large cooking facility, designed by the Stahlbau Pichler in Bolzano, was inaugurated in 2011.
Over the years, Forst has grown to become one of the leading beer producers in Italy. To date, the company is owned by the Fuchs-von Mannstein family without being absorbed by one of the major foreign companies that dominate the industry.
